SCARVES

Each scarf is unique, telling its own story through leaf selection, seasonality and layout.  Some are adorned with hand-stitching to highlight and mend scars that the fabric has accumulated during its journey.  Others are created with pristine silk ready for you to add to their story.

SILK PILLOWCASES

How wonderful to drift off to dreamland with your head resting on a work of art...

These silk pillowcases are not only luxurious (um, hello silk!) but are also unique works of art from nature.

SILK TOPS & ROBES

I have eco-printed and/or naturally dyed lengths of silk and then crafted them into deliciousness for you to wear every day.  These designs are deliberately understated to allow each mark from the natural pigments used to sing.

OTHER FANCIES

These are creative explorations that don't fit into my usual range.

Here are all the items that don't fit into my usual offerings - either made by me or by another clever local artisan.

A LOOK AT MY PROCESSES

Each item I make begins as a plain piece of fabric.  Using leaves and bark that I gather locally on my wanderings and bicycle rides around Featherston I lay, wrap and cook designs and patterns into the fabric - a method of pigment transfer called eco-printing.

Plants impart their own natural pigments into the fabric.  Factors like seasonality and location affect the final results, so each piece of fabric is a unique, creative experiment lead by nature.

My dye-pots are filled with lichen, bark, leaves, fruits, vegetables and flowers in order to create backgrounds for my eco-prints or more solid-coloured fabrics.

A WORKING STUDIO

Perpetua Studio is a working studio as well as a shop.  I spend a few days each week, designing, sewing, printing and dyeing to create beautiful pieces for you to love.

On Fridays and Saturdays I open the studio for you to come in and shop.  When you visit you'll probably find me busy making things on these days as well.

I am happy to open the shop to you by appointment on other days. Please contact me in advance to arrange this.
